Local historians Cole Thompson and Don Rice are working on an Inwood photo history book and need your help.
The book, titled Lost Inwood, is set to hit the shelves next spring.
The publisher, Arcadia Press, is well known for photo histories of cities, towns and neighborhoods.
For the project Cole and Don have assembled an amazing array of photos spanning from around 1890 onward.
Here’s where YOU come in.
While the authors have plenty of “ancient” photographs they are in need of mages from more recent decades—1940’s, 1950’s, 1960’s, 1970’s, 1980’s and 1990’s.
The photos need not be of professional quality.
What’s needed is the kind of image you might place in a photo album—Just candid images of people doing normal stuff. Like the below photographs contributed by past and current Inwood residents Herb Maruska and M. Frank.
The only catch is that there should be a bit of Inwood in the background— A movie theatre, bar, bowling alley, stores, park, bridge, subway etc….
If your photo is used you’ll receive a free book, a photo credit and a place in Inwood history.
