Hudson-Fulton 1909 Celebration Program

by Cole Thompson

Henry Hudson portraitCelebrations, replicas of the Half Moon sailing into New York Harbor and exhibitions at a gallery.    Henry Hudson, we hardly new you, but he’s all over the news lately.  Truly, even the few portraits we have of the man were commissioned many years after his death.

But, New York does like a party.  And in true MyInwood fashion, we’ll celebrate the 400th anniversary of Hudson’s voyage by taking a look back at how New York partied in 1909.   What follows is an official program from my private stash.

Happy 400th Henry Hudson!

Wow! I think it’s safe to say that they took Henry Hudson’s anniversary much more seriously in 1909 than in 2009.
